Bhayangkara FC had to accept a bitter reality after being held to a draw by Arema FC in the continuation of the BRI Super League 2026/2027 at Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang, Saturday (10/10/2026). The team coached by Oscar Bruzon had led by two goals without reply, but ultimately had to settle for sharing the points after the hosts scored two goals in response in the second half.
Bhayangkara's lead was opened by Matias Ocampo in the 15th minute, followed by a goal from Milan Ristovski sixteen minutes later. Their dominance in the first half seemed to promise three points for The Guardians. However, Arema FC fought back after the break. Marcos Vinícius reduced the deficit in the 52nd minute, and Samuel Otusanya equalized just six minutes later. The score stayed 2-2 until the final whistle.
Coach Oscar Bruzon acknowledged there were positive and negative sides to this match. "We can still continue our unbeaten run until the fourth week and dominate the match against a tough team," he said. Nevertheless, he regretted the loss of a victory that had been within reach. "We cannot be satisfied because we should have been able to close out the match. Arema made good use of their chances," he added.
Goalkeeper Awan Setho added a sense of deep disappointment. "This is a disappointing result. Already 2-0 up but it ended in a draw, it feels like a loss," said the 29-year-old keeper. He also highlighted Arema's effectiveness in making use of set pieces. "They were more effective in the second half, especially from dead balls. We failed to anticipate," he explained.
This result is a blow for Bhayangkara, who are building consistency in the domestic competition. Although still unbeaten, the failure to hold on to their lead shows a gap in match management, especially when facing pressure from the hosts. Arema, on the other hand, showed a never-say-die character that could be a valuable asset for the matches ahead.
In the context of the BRI Super League, the race toward the top of the table is getting tighter. Points dropped away from home can have a big impact on the final position at the end of the season. Bhayangkara need to quickly fix their mental and tactical aspects so they do not again lose valuable points. Meanwhile Arema, with this comeback momentum, have a chance to disrupt the top teams.
Going forward, Bhayangkara will face a packed schedule that demands rotation and sharpness. Oscar Bruzon is required to maintain a balance between attacking and defending. The question is, can The Guardians turn disappointment into motivation, or will this trend of draws instead hinder their ambition to win the title?
