Acer is expanding its gaming monitor lineup with the Predator X27U F5, a 27-inch 1440p device that combines a QD-OLED panel with a 500 Hz refresh rate. This combination places it in the upper segment of the competitive display market, though its appeal does not stop at the refresh rate figure alone. Based on hands-on testing for work, gaming, and watching films, this monitor shows that high speed can go hand in hand with solid visual quality.
Once turned on, the 1440p screen immediately shows off vibrant colors, deep blacks, and HDR highlights that make a big impact. Gaming and movie-watching feel far more vivid, while for everyday work, brightness needs to be lowered so the eyes do not tire quickly. A comparison with an ordinary daily monitor makes the quality gap clear, even when just moving the cursor between screens. For multi-monitor users, the presence of the X27U F5 could make older screens feel inadequate.
Testing with an RTX 3080 GPU shows that the 1440p resolution on this high-refresh monitor still aligns with previous-generation graphics cards. In Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the frame rate exceeded 380 FPS, and the combination of a high refresh rate with OLED's fast response makes motion look very clean and feel responsive. Reaching 500 FPS is a challenge in itself because some games have lower frame rate caps, while competitive games such as Valorant and Overwatch 2 can exceed 500 FPS as long as capable hardware supports them.
Interestingly, users do not need to reach 500 FPS to feel the benefits of this monitor. There is a noticeable improvement above 240 Hz, and the ability to let games run at high frame rates without immediately hitting the display ceiling is a plus. For demanding games with lower frame rates, the QD-OLED image quality remains the main draw.
In terms of design, the X27U F5 can be mounted on a monitor arm, although the included stand is already fairly flexible. Connectivity is plentiful: two HDMI inputs, two DisplayPort, and USB-C with 65W power delivery. There is also a USB hub and a KVM switch for sharing a keyboard and mouse between computers. One important note is the glossy screen, which easily catches reflections if positioned poorly. Placing the monitor directly facing a window will seriously disrupt visual comfort.
"At the discounted price of $599.99, the Acer Predator X27U F5 is easy to recommend for gamers who want speed as well as fantastic image quality. The 1440p resolution may not satisfy everyone, and fully utilizing 500 Hz requires the right games and hardware."
For the Indonesian market, this monitor offers an attractive option in the high-end segment that is usually dominated by brands such as Samsung, LG, and ASUS. With a regular price of around Rp12.8 million, the X27U F5 competes closely with more established 240 Hz QD-OLED monitors. Its presence could push other manufacturers to offer higher refresh rates on OLED panels, which in the end gives consumers more choices. However, prospective buyers in Indonesia need to consider stock availability and after-sales service, as well as ensure the room has no direct light sources that disturb the glossy screen.
Looking ahead, the question is how quickly ultra-high refresh rate adoption will spread among Indonesian gamers, given the price and the not-inexpensive hardware requirements. If this trend continues, 500 Hz monitors could become a new standard for the enthusiast segment, though for now it remains limited to those ready to dig deeper into their pockets.
