- Produser Jun Takeuchi mengonfirmasi Capcom tengah merancang mekanisme pertemuan antara lini remake dan seri bernomor Resident Evil.
- Persiapan telah dilakukan sejak Resident Evil Village melalui kemunculan nama Umbrella, Spencer, hingga Raccoon City di Requiem.
- Remake Resident Evil Veronica dijadwalkan 2027, tetapi belum ada tanggal pasti dan spekulasi remake RE5/RE6 masih belum terkonfirmasi.

Capcom is reportedly finalizing a major plan to unite two development tracks of the Resident Evil franchise: the remake series that has recently dominated and the numbered series that continues the main chronology. Producer Jun Takeuchi revealed that the company has been considering a mechanism for the two lines to meet, as reported in an interview with Japanese media and cited by Games Radar.
Takeuchi's statement is the most concrete signal yet that Capcom is not merely reworking old titles, but preparing a narrative bridge toward a new era. "Eventually, the remake series will catch up with the era of numbered titles, and the mechanism for that has begun to be considered," he said. This sentence opens speculation that the meeting point could be a soft reboot moment or a cross-generational event that fans have long requested.
According to Takeuchi, preparations have been underway gradually since Resident Evil Village. He cited the appearance of names such as Umbrella and Spencer, as well as the return of Raccoon City in Requiem, as part of the foundation toward that crossover. Easter eggs long regarded as mere nostalgic nods are now read as markers of the long-term story direction.
In the interview, Takeuchi did not disclose details of a new numbered title. Capcom's current focus is on Resident Evil Veronica, which has been officially announced for 2027. Nevertheless, his statement has sparked interpretation that remakes of Resident Evil 5 and 6 could follow, given that both are part of the numbered era untouched by the remake strategy. So far, Capcom has not given official confirmation about those projects.
"Preparations for this have actually been underway gradually since Resident Evil Village, including the appearance of names like Umbrella and Spencer, as well as the return of Raccoon City in Requiem. All of this is preparation toward the crossover." โ Jun Takeuchi, Resident Evil Producer
For the global game industry, Capcom's move reflects an increasingly common franchise strategy: maintaining two revenue tracks at once, namely nostalgia through remakes and continuity through the main series. This approach allows the company to capitalize on its long-standing fan base without sacrificing story relevance. However, the main risk is chronological confusion if the meeting point is not managed neatly.
From the perspective of the Indonesian market, Resident Evil remains one of the best-selling horror franchises on PlayStation and PC platforms. The country's gamer community often treats remake releases as moments to buy consoles or upgrade devices. If the crossover between remakes and the numbered series truly materializes, its impact could be felt in waves of hardware sales and online discussions in local forums and social media.
What remains an open question is how quickly Capcom will realize this vision. With Resident Evil Veronica not arriving until 2027, the window toward a full crossover is likely still several years away. Will Capcom make this crossover a narrative climax, or instead split it into several separate titles? Fans will seemingly need to be patient, but the wind direction is already starting to be felt.
