Indra Kenz Released on Parole, Apologizes to Binomo Victims: I Was Wrong and I Take Responsibility

Indra Kenz, convicted in the Binomo robot trading investment fraud case, has finally issued a public apology to the victims who suffered losses. The apology was posted on his personal Instagram account, @indrakenz, shortly after he walked free on Thursday, 24 September 2026, at 11.00 WIB.

The parole was confirmed by Budi Waskito, spokesperson for the Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjenpas). He stated that Indra Kenz, whose real name is Indra Kusuma, is now under the supervision of the Bogor Correctional Center (Bapas). The move marks a new chapter in a case that once shook Indonesia's digital investment industry in 2022.

In his statement, Indra admitted that his past actions were an unjustifiable mistake. He stressed that he would not look for excuses to justify what he did. "I never intended to hurt anyone, and at the time I did not fully understand the law or think about the consequences of my actions," he said, adding that he takes full responsibility for the problems that arose.

The Binomo case itself became one of the largest investment scandals in Indonesia. Indra Kenz was charged under multiple articles: fraud, spreading false news, and money laundering. The 10-year prison sentence was handed down in 2022, but he had served only about half of his term. The parole has sparked debate over the effectiveness of law enforcement against white-collar crime, especially when it harms the wider public.

"To anyone who suffered because of my actions, I sincerely apologize. I want to honor this second chance by doing my best to make things right," Indra wrote in his post.

He also described his detention as the darkest phase of his life, but said he was grateful to still be given the chance to start over with his family. Indra promised to rebuild his life and repay those who remained loyal by his side.

For the victims, an apology may not immediately restore the material losses they suffered. The restitution or asset recovery process in this case remains an open question. As of this news being published, there has been no official statement on further legal steps or compensation efforts that Indra Kenz will pursue after his release.

Parole for the perpetrator of a major economic crime like Indra Kenz presents its own dilemma.
