Maya Jama Denies Stormzy Reunion Rumors: 'We're Just Friends'

Love Island presenter Maya Jama has finally spoken out about rumors claiming she has rekindled her romance with her ex-boyfriend, Stormzy. The speculation flared after Jama followed the rapper's social media account again and posted a video of herself singing the song "One Second".

In a post on X, Jama wrote, "I like the song. We've always been friends. Nobody's back together, stop with those theories." The statement also dismissed public assumptions that their on-and-off relationship had entered a new chapter.

Jama and Stormzy first dated from 2015 to 2019. After a break, they got back together in August 2023, but split again in July 2024. After breaking up with Stormzy, Jama dated Portuguese footballer Ruben for 18 months before they parted ways earlier this year.

The clarification also comes alongside promotion for Jama's new show, The Celebrity Traitors, which airs on 1 October. On the show, Jama appears with a string of big names including Miranda Hart, Michael Sheen, and Richard E. Grant. However, public attention was briefly diverted to the contestants' official profile photos, which were deemed unsatisfactory.

Comedian Rob Beckett, also a contestant, complained about how his photo had been edited on social media. "There seems to be a traitor in the photoshop department... what happened to my face?" he wrote on Instagram. Jama responded jokingly, "They treated us all badly." Beckett's wife even chimed in with a joke that the photo was better than their family portrait.
