Doli of Golkar Hits Back at Hasyim: You Were Fired Twice, Don't Lecture Us About Hypocrisy

- Ahmad Doli Kurnia menuding Hasyim Asy'ari lupa telah dua kali dicopot dari pimpinan KPU sebelum menyerukan antimunafik.
- Polemik berpusat pada dugaan penyelundupan Pasal 18 ayat (3) PKPU 19/2023 yang membuka jalan Gibran menjadi cawapres.
- Doli menantang Komisi II DPR menggelar forum resmi untuk menguji siapa sebenarnya bertanggung jawab atas pasal kontroversial itu.

A member of the House of Representatives' Commission II, Ahmad Doli Kurnia, launched a counterattack against former KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari over the controversy surrounding Article 18 paragraph (3) of KPU Regulation No. 19 of 2023. Doli argued that Hasyim lacks the moral credibility to call for an end to hypocrisy, having twice been removed from a leadership post in the election organizing body.
"He forgets, he has already been fired twice as KPU because of his hypocrisy," Doli said at the parliamentary complex on Monday (12/10). The statement responded to Hasyim's call for all parties not to act hypocritically in addressing the alleged smuggling of a clause that paved the way for Gibran Rakabuming Raka to become a 2024 vice-presidential candidate.
Doli, who once chaired Commission II during the deliberation of the PKPU, highlighted Hasyim's position as an independent commissioner of PTPN I. He questioned the basis for Hasyim's appointment at the state-owned company, especially since his background is seen as unrelated to the field.
"Try asking him, where did he get it from? That commissioner post is a gift from whom?" Doli said.
Doli's statement sharpens the clash between two figures both involved in the architecture of 2024 election regulations. Hasyim had earlier referred to Doli, who claimed he never discussed Article 18 with the KPU. According to Hasyim, the controversial article was the shared responsibility of participants in the hearing (RDP), not the KPU alone.
Hasyim also asked the Election Organizer Ethics Council (DKPP) to examine complaints regarding the article fairly, proportionally, carefully, and free from conflicts of interest. He even quoted a hadith narrated by Bukhari and Muslim from Abu Hurairah about the traits of a hypocrite to underscore his call.
Doli said he initially did not want to prolong the controversy. However, he felt compelled to speak up because Hasyim was said to have attacked him personally. He then challenged Commission II to hold a formal forum to dissect the origins of the article that became the basis for Gibran's candidacy.
"If it really is to be opened, then let's open it," he asserted. The challenge opens the door to an open confrontation in parliament, which could drag in the names of several parties involved in the late 2023 revision of the PKPU.
For the public, this fight is not merely an elite duel. Article 18 paragraph (3) is the starting knot of a series of controversies that culminated in the Constitutional Court's ruling on the age limit for vice-presidential candidates and Gibran's candidacy. If Commission II truly opens the forum, pressure will point toward transparency in the legislative process and accountability of election organizers.
The most awaited question: will the DKPP examine the report on the article thoroughly, or will this controversy again sink into mutual recriminations among elites ahead of the next election cycle?
