Apple has finally scheduled an event titled "Welcome Home" for October 13 in the Tribeca area of New York City, a gathering predicted to be a turning point in the company's ambition to take on the smart home market long dominated by its rivals.
The press invitation circulating describes the event format as an "Apple Experience," indicating a hands-on demonstration session rather than the usual streamed keynote presentation. So far, there is no confirmation on whether the event will be streamed virtually for audiences outside the United States.
The announcement first surfaced on October 8 through a post by Greg Joswiak, Apple's Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, on platform X. He posted an embroidered Apple logo with a short message: "Welcome home. October 13."

The most anticipated product is a touchscreen smart home hub, referred to in several reports as the "HomePad." According to Engadget, the device could support smart home control, FaceTime calls, intercom functions, media playback, and a kitchen-specific information interface. However, Apple has not confirmed any of these capabilities.
MacRumors also reports an update to the HomePod mini with a newer processor and improved Siri support, plus possible connectivity upgrades and additional color options. A new-generation Apple TV 4K with a faster chip and more memory is also said to be in development. Both products remain unverified ahead of Apple's official announcement.
Several reports, including from Engadget, indicate Apple may introduce a software platform called "homeOS" to support the hub and related devices. However, Apple has not confirmed the name, interface, or launch plans.
If these rumored products materialize, the arrival of a centralized hub with a screen would put Apple in direct competition with the Amazon Echo Show and Google Nest Hub. Amazon and Google have continued to expand their smart home ecosystems, leaving Apple behind with no significant refresh of its home device line.
For Indonesian consumers, this event could be an important signal about the direction of Apple's ecosystem in the future. Although the country's smart home market is still dominated by Android- and Google-based devices, the arrival of a more affordable and integrated Apple hub could shift preferences, especially among loyal Apple users who have relied on the iPhone and iPad as the center of their home control.
In addition, the launch of these new devices could drive growth in the peripheral and support services market in Indonesia, such as installation, system integration, and local content. However, without certainty on pricing and official availability, the impact remains speculative.
What is clear is that Apple has not confirmed product names, prices, technical specifications, or availability dates for anything expected to appear at the event. The format of the October 13 event also remains a mystery, including whether it will include a streamed presentation for viewers outside Tribeca.
Regardless, October 13 could be the clearest marker of whether Apple truly intends to make its ecosystem the center of your home, and whether that vision is finally ready to compete with the platforms that have long dominated the space.
