JAKARTA โ The trailer launch for the documentary film The Longest Wait took place unexpectedly in the Gelora Bung Karno area, Jakarta, on 2 October 2026. The LED screen in Zone 9 Ring Road GBK Gate G suddenly showed a clip of the film shortly after the Indonesia national team's match against Malaysia in the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026, surprising supporters still lingering in the area.
This collaborative production by Fremantle Indonesia and Beach House Pictures did not merely introduce the trailer. The moment also served as the debut stage for "Rayakan Pemenang" by Morfem, which was chosen as the official soundtrack. After the screening ended, Jimi Multhazam and his bandmates appeared amid the crowd and performed the song live for about four minutes, accompanied by visuals from The Longest Wait.
The choice of "Rayakan Pemenang" was not without reason. The song, first released by Morfem in 2014, has long been known in Indonesia's independent music scene and is often associated with football. Its lyrics emphasize perseverance in chasing dreams amid challenges, a message seen as in line with the long journey of the Indonesia national team.
Co-Director of The Longest Wait, Arief Soeliscane, said the song gives the film a different color. According to him, "Rayakan Pemenang" brings a raw and intense energy, reflecting the character of supporter backing, while also slipping in a message of patience and optimism through transformation.
"I'm happy to be part of the story of the most beloved sports team in this country. This song responds to a friend's perseverance in their process of reaching their dreams, from things that seemed impossible to becoming real," said Jimi Multhazam.
For Jimi, the song now feels relevant to the struggle of the Indonesia national team. He said Morfem is waiting for the moment when the national team can celebrate its achievements together as winners.
The Longest Wait does not only record matches and scores. The film highlights the behind-the-scenes process that shapes the character of a national team: how players and those around them build trust, face pressure, and move amid great public expectations. The dynamics of the dressing room and the adaptation process also form the backdrop of the story.
The role of supporters gets an important share. They are present in the stadium, follow every match, give support, and carry hope for the team they love. Through that approach, The Longest Wait becomes a portrait of an important phase in Indonesian football, in which the Indonesia national team is depicted as a space that brings together people from different backgrounds in the same spirit.
The film's journey received support from AQUA as the main sponsor. Head of Brand AQUA, Riza Rahman, stated that the trailer and the song "Rayakan Pemenang" successfully captured the spirit of optimism, perseverance, and togetherness that are an important part of this story.
The documentary is directed by Sam C. Webb and is scheduled to premiere in cinemas across Indonesia on 28 October 2026, coinciding with Hari Sumpah Pemuda. The choice of date also carries a message about young people chasing dreams together.
The launch moment at GBK underscores how the Indonesia national team is one of the spaces that unites society. The presence of this film is hoped to serve as a reminder of the collective energy of supporters in every phase of the team's journey. The question is whether The Longest Wait can maintain that momentum until its premiere, and to what extent the film will influence the way the public views the journey of the Indonesia national team?
