Fire Truck Hits Ambulance and TransJakarta Bus on Jalan Raya Bekasi, Three Injured

A multi-vehicle accident involving a fire truck, an ambulance, and a TransJakarta bus occurred on Jalan Raya Bekasi, North Jakarta, on Monday (28/9) at around 10.00 WIB. The incident left three people injured and several vehicles heavily damaged.

According to the Head of the Accident Unit of the Gakkum Subdirectorate of the Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya, Kompol Kharisma Arbita Bangsa, the accident began when the fire truck was traveling from west to east. The driver is suspected of being inattentive and hitting a Colt Diesel truck. The collision triggered a chain reaction that also dragged in an ambulance, a Honda Mobilio, a Toyota Calya, and a TransJakarta bus.

"Exactly near United Traktor in the North Jakarta area, the driver is suspected of being inattentive/careless and hit a Colt Diesel truck, pushing other vehicles," Kharisma said in his statement on Monday.

As a result of the incident, ambulance driver Muhayar suffered injuries and was immediately taken to RSUD Koja. Colt Diesel truck driver Sumarno suffered bruises on his leg and was referred to RS Persahabatan. Meanwhile, Honda Mobilio driver Vianita Januarini suffered bruises on her right hand. As of the publication of this news, there have been no reports of fatalities.

Police have arrived at the scene to process the crime scene, request witness statements, and secure evidence. However, the exact chronology is still under investigation. Initial information also circulated on social media through the account @info.jakartatimurr, which uploaded a video of the wrecked vehicles.

"Meanwhile, the vehicles involved suffered damage," Kharisma said.

This incident again highlights the importance of discipline among emergency vehicle drivers on the road. A fire truck that should be a symbol of emergency response instead became the trigger of an accident. Human negligence, such as lack of concentration, remains the dominant factor in traffic accidents in Jakarta.
