Ed Sheeran Cancels Gillette Stadium Concerts Amid 'Free Palestine' Controversy

Ed Sheeran was forced to cancel two concerts scheduled at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on Friday and Saturday (25-26 September 2026). The cancellation was not caused by the controversy involving his supporting musician, Macklemore, but by forecasts of severe weather that threatened the safety of the audience and crew.

The decision was announced by stadium management and tour promoter AEG Presents. In a statement, stadium owner Robert Kraft said the venue had monitored weather developments over the past week and decided to cancel the event for the safety of all parties. In a statement on Instagram, Macklemore highlighted a shift in collective awareness over the past three years, in which more people are demanding that artists not remain apolitical amid a humanitarian crisis.

"If the past few weeks have taught us anything, it is that there has been a collective awakening around Palestinian liberation, the power of billionaires trying to censor that call, and what we expect from artists today," Macklemore said.
