Guruh Soekarnoputra in Intensive Care, PDIP Calls for Joint Prayers

PDIP spokesperson Guntur Romli confirmed that Guruh Soekarnoputra, 73, is being treated in intensive care at a hospital. The news surfaced on Friday (25/9) and immediately drew public attention, given Guruh's position as the younger brother of PDIP Chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri and the youngest son of Indonesia's first president, Sukarno.

"That's right, please pray for him," Guntur said when contacted. He added that the party is holding joint prayers for Guruh's recovery. "We are also holding joint prayers for Mas Guruh. We ask for prayers from the Indonesian people for the recovery of Mas Guruh Soekarnoputra," he said.

Guntur, however, has not provided further details on when Guruh was admitted, the illness he is suffering from, or the hospital where he is being treated. Guruh inherited his artistic talent from his father. Throughout his career, he has produced various works in film, music, and dance. Beyond the arts, Guruh also left his mark in the legislative arena as a member of the DPR RI and MPR. He once took part in the contest for the PDIP chairmanship but lost to his older sister, Megawati Soekarnoputri.
