Anthony Russo, who directed Endgame with his brother Joe, said the film's 2019 release moment carried special meaning. According to him, Endgame arrived a few months before the COVID-19 pandemic completely changed the entertainment industry landscape, including cinema-going habits. "We can bring Endgame back to cinemas and connect it to the moment before the cinema-going experience was disrupted," Russo said, as quoted from an interview with Hollywood media.
